stress factor..

In the modern day world, pressure can be stimulating, challenging and motivating, but if it builds up we may end up feeling unable to cope. If causes of stress are not treated they will affect your general health, so it’s wise to tackle these problems early on, before they erupt.

Aromatherapy is a major cure to many who suffer with stress as it draws on the calming, relaxing, uplifting and restorative powers of essential oils.

What are the signs of stress?

Signs of stress include:

Anxiety

Anxiety prevents you from been able to deal with a problem (such as an interview or examination) effectively and makes you feel tense. Essential oils, when inhaled, will stimulate the lymbic (limbic) part of the brain, which is the key to our feelings of well being. Uplifting oils such as Basil and bergamot are recommended for anxiety.

Mild Shock

Mild shock is a temporary sign of stress for example if anything shakes you up, such as a vehicle accident. Mild shock can be very strong and a fast-acting cure is needed. Essential oils such as Chamomile and Rosemary are recommended as they both give a calming and stimulating sensation.

Headaches

Headaches are very common in today’s world and are often the first sign of stress. Head massages are very useful to get rid of a headache, and also the use of Lavender or geranium across the forehead.

Depression

Depression will all hit us at some point in our lives either due to financial problems, emotions or work problems. In the long run, if depression is not cured, this will affect and lower the immune system leading to mental and physical health problems. Essential oils are ideal and may help reduce some of the symptoms of depression. Recommended oils are Bergamot, Cypress, Lemongrass, Rosemary and Sage.

Mental Fatigue

Signs of this are when you feel exhausted or cannot concentrate on anything. Time to relax and unwind is recommended in this situation. Techniques such as bathing with soothing essential oils are recommended, for example, bath with a rosemary essential oil)

Insomnia

Sleepless is a common sign of stress. To cure this you need to relax, eat a health diet and do regular exercise, and at the end of the day, calm down by having a bath or massage. Recommended essential oils are Chamomile, Cedarwood, Frankincense, Hyssop, Lavender, Marjoram, Melissa, Neroli, Orange, Rose and Sage
